Twenty-
four students and three teachers of Bhavan's Vidya
Mandir, Elamakkara, left for UK, on June 21st,
to explore London, Kent and nearby places. Out
there, they will have a first-hand experience
of the family and academic lives of English students.
This
is a part of a student-exchange programme that
the school has with Cranbrook School, Kent. They
will return on July 6th. The students and teachers
are staying with families of students from the
host school.
New
Experiences
The exchange programme
began in
1998, following the visit of Angela
Daly,
the then principal of Cranbrook, to Bhavan's.
Impressed
by the cultural and educative experience that
she got, she invited the then principal of Bhavan's,
Meena Vishwanathan, to visit Cranbrook. This set
off to a regular exchange programme, with students
paying visits to each other's schools every alternate
year. This
is the third batch of students from Bhavan's
to visit Cranbrook. Students from Kent who visited
Kochi last year were put up at their homes.
